I live in Burlington, Vermont. Which is on Lake Champlain. I'm a single dad of two teenagers, Katherine and Hunter, 15 and 17. I grew up about 35 miles south of here in Vergennes, in dairy farm country.

I been doing film photography with point and shoots most of my life. I got a 35mm SLR in 1998. A Minolta X-370s with a couple len's and flash. I kinda got away from taken photos for the next few years due to raising my kids. In the spring of 2003 I picked up my first digital camera, a used HP C200 1mp, it took OK photographs, it had horrible shutter lag time. The summer of 2005 I picked up another used digital camera, A Casio QV-R51 5mp. it took real nice photographs, had a very low lag time and fast start up. But I was lost on idears, things just were not clicking. I came across Scott Kelbys book "the digital photography book" at our local borders book store. His tips made a big difference in how I started to take better digital photographs. In July of 2007 I decided I would like a new digital camera, a DSLR so I could learn and do more. I picked the DSLR Nikon D80. I been having alot of fun with the D80, And there's so much to learn about all the things it can do, I love it!

This past Jan. I picked up from our local borders book store, Scott's second  book "Digital photography book 2" along with Joe McNally's "the moment it clicks"  Joe's book is amazing and Scotts is as helpful as his first one. I highly recomand both of Scotts books and Joe's book.
